Pizza Hut of Maryland, Inc.
Pizza Hut of Maryland, Inc was founded in 1972 by Robert Schulze and his wife Helen, along with a business partner, John Willias. Their first location opened in Westminster on June 4, 1972. Within two months, they opened a second location in Catonsville. Today there are now nearly 50 restaurants located in Baltimore City as well as Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Cecil, Harford, and Howard Counties. We would like to thank all of our home town communities for their continued support of our business for over 35 years. It is our customers who make us the best!
Shore Pizza Hut, Inc.
History In 1976 Van Schulze of Grasonville, Maryland was granted the Pizza Hut Franchise territory for Queen Annes, Kent and Caroline Counties. At that time there were no national brand restaurants in Queen Annes or Caroline Counties. Pizza Hut would become the leader in both counties with the construction of the Stevensville Pizza Hut in 1976 and the Denton Pizza Hut in 1985. Currently, Shore Pizza Hut, Inc. operates three restaurants in Stevensville, Chestertown, and Denton.
SPHI has always been a small town operation with our offices in Grasonville, Maryland. Valentine Schulze Galasso has been the president of SPHI since 1981. She is a 1977 graduate of Chesapeake College. The Vice President of SPHI is Mark Galasso. Mark is a graduate of Queen Annes County High School and Chesapeake College. SPHI has always been involved with the community. A visit to our Centreville location will give you an idea of the many sports teams we have sponsored through the years. Visit the Stevensville location’s dining room and you will notice our nautical/watermans theme. When work on the water was slow we have been able to provide jobs for watermen in the past. SPHI has provided countless pizzas and support for community events. Whether it was sponsoring the Maryland JUCO Basketball Tournament at Chesapeake College or Fundraisers for swim teams and Cub Scouts, SPHI is proud of it’s history and community involvement. In fact Pizza Hut has been named the area’s favorite Pizza establishments numerous times in local newspaper polls.
The pizza business has been changing in our area. As our customers become busier and busier they are relying more and more on carryout and delivery. We are trying to change with the times while still clinging to our roots as the area’s favorite sit down Pizza Restaurants.
